Get in shape for summertime
It's that time iof year to get out there and enjoy the great weather we have here. Always start any new routine by easing slowly into it to avoid injury which could result in a delay to your plan. For todays focus on running, or any cardio really, always hydrate (fluids) before and after. Much emphasis is given to after activity fluids but before is equally important, and don't forget the electrolytes in sports drinks for quicker recovery.

Health Care Exemptions
Under the "must be nice category". Seems Obamacare is sooo popular and cost efficient that if you were a supporter or political ally you get an exemption!!! Hey, wait a minute wasn't this new health care system supposed to be the greatest thing going to provide coverage to everyone so that all will receive the same crappy level of care? Well, guess not, especially if you reside and do business in Nancy Pelosi's district were approximately 20% of all exemption were granted. Coincidence? Yeah right!!!!!

Chiropractic treatment for auto injuries
Manual manipulation is still hands down the best and most efficient means of treatment for soft tissue injuries sustained in an auto mobile accident and I'll tell you why! Typically soft tissue involves 2 distinct factors: soft tissue ( muscle, ligament, tendon) and a hard tissue anchor, in this case spinal vertebrae. Treating the soft tissue component only is getting half the job done as you really need both facets of treatment to achieve successful results or the symptoms have a high degree of residual at a later date!! If you are involved in an auto accident this rainy season give us a call so that future spine issues can be avoided.

Fat Brain
You're overweight and always hungry; is your brain inflamed?? An article by David Seaman reports that poor eating habits can inflame your brain. Evidence suggest consumption of pro-inflammatory foods can, for lack of better description, "confuse" your brain and the communication it has with your stomach-in effect making it harder to discern when your full. The result: a tendency to overeat and gain weight, which can lead to serious health conditions over time..diabetes, hypertension to mention a few. So, more compelling evidence to eat a diet rich in vegetables, fruit, lean meat and anti-inflammatory foods like Omega rich fish. Monthly chiropractic adjustments will help your nervous system function optimally which can also help aid you energy level to sustain extended exercise.

Obesity: Quick Fix vs. Practical Approach
Lap band surgery is the new lipo suction for 2011. Different approach same mindset for people who think this will solve all their eating disorders w/o changing their lifestyle. In some cases is lap band necessary? Absolutely. However in far to many cases it is believed to be a licenses to overeat with impunity once the procedure is performed. You can suck the fat out or squeeze the stomach off but w/o getting your head right your wasting your time...and money! Back away from the table and go exercise!

Chiropractic Myth vs. Reality
Cost of medical care is always a concern to most people, so I often hear that
"chiropractic is too expensive, I can't afford it" Well, let me tell you that in the Dec.2010 issue of JMPT (journal of manipulative and physiologic therapeutics) under "Cost of care for common back pain conditions initiated with Chiropractic doctor vs. Medical Doctor" supported with data from Blue Cross/ Blue Shield of Tennessee determined that paid cost for episodes of low back pain were 40% less when care was initiated with a Chiropractor compared with a medical doctor!!! So what this demonstrates is the value of chiropractic care for routine care at a time when we are attempting to reform a health care system and contain runaway costs. We also offer a complimentary consultation to determine if we can help you before you have to spend any money for treatment.

Chiropractic Myth vs. Reality
Myth # 2
Isn't Chiropractic really just the same as massage or physical therapy?
My response: Absolutely not!! Massage and P.T. is undoubtedly a fantastic adjunct to a chiropractic adjustment but far from the same thing in that chiropractic is the actual physical movement of vertebrae for the purpose of relieving nerve pressure or interference that is causing specific pain complaints that may include muscular involvement. When treating Personal Injury (PI) patients I relate to them the need for chiropractic care in that the 2 most common components of an injury involve the spine/nervous system and soft tissue (muscles, ligaments&tendons) and doing one without the other is only treating 50% of the injury, so that is why we offer both in our approach to treatment>
