Get your neck cracked and lower your blood pressure??

At first I was even skeptical of this report, but since this first surfaced several months ago it's been all over the news. ABC's Good Morn America own Dr. Tim Johnson (not exactly a huge chiropractic supporter!!!) ran a story on this and reported that it showed promise. A large scale study is now under way at my alma mater Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport Ia. in conjunction with Mount Sinai Medical Center conducting medical studies on the impact of treating hypertension with upper cervical (neck) adjustment. Now, this is all well and good but this regimen must have a dose of reality to it and any regimen should also include a diet change and exercise along with life time wellness care in addition to specific treatment. Visit our website www.missionvillagechiropractic.com or www.blakelychiropractic.com for more info. Your neck pain mat be causing hypertension.

Soccer not a contact sport????

With World Cup fever dominating every corner pub and PTA conversation I began to look at this sport to determine just how safe it was for our kids to play. To say that this is a completely safe sport for kids of every age to play is not exactly true. Is it great exercise, yes! Is it a great team building attitude game , yes and yes! But watching it on video it is apparent that all kicks are not to the ball. There is also the dramatic collisions and outright falls on the keester. Upon further investigation I learned that per age group indoor carpet soccer resulted in the most injuries in players under the age of 15 (hard ground/cement floor). Now I'm not saying to pull your kids from this sport, it is great exercise and it gets them away from the TV and video games. But do consider having them seen by a chiropractor for periodic check ups as we are specialist in treating the types of injuries that can occur from this game and besides kids love to be adjusted, just ask them!!!!
